Opening Discussion: Academia.edu, Cybercolonialism, and the Bell Curve of Hype

The organizational meeting for Spring 2016 Digital Scholars will be dedicated to a brief retrospective of discussions featured in DigitalHumanities Now in 2015 — including how to valuate (or why some wish to boycott) metric-driven academic social networking sites such as academia.edu and researchgate; and how to delineate between useful/multicultural collaborations and DH approaches that may be at risk of putting subjects or laborers under erasure.
